Trackmate Racing RC Lap Timing System
Переглядів 17 тис.9 років тому
The Trackmate Racing RC Lap timing system includes hardware and software components. The iridium infrared sensors are highly accurate as long as the lap bar is constructed properly. This video breaks down the components included in a kit. We also discuss some of the competitors: MyLaps, I-Laps, and Robotronic. Finally we breakdown how the technology works and compare Trackmates' infrared overhe...

Review: 1/14 Tacon Soar / LC Racing Buggy / EMB-1H

1/14 Tacon Cavalry Review! Part 3: Final Verdict

The final verdict is that this car is great! More recommended for intermediate to advance driver due to some more expensive parts that break, but if the parts come down in price or a kit comes out for just those parts I would recommend it to everyone. Regarding jumps, one thing I've seen done and I've also done myself is using the actual track surface itself as the top of the jump and lifting it from underneath, much like you would with a carpet track. Honestly, I kinda feel that RCP foam panels would be preferable to carpet for low-maintenance in-door off road, as while the surface has a good amount of bite it's not the stupid amounts of grip you see with carpet.

    Do you happen to know how far the lap bar and the transmitters can be from one another? Looking to use this for electric skateboard racing and wondering if this might be a solution.

    • @EhrhartRacingRC
      @EhrhartRacingRC Рік тому

      It's only about two feet. You could design a gate or multiple gates that racers drive through l__l where the transmitters are on the side of the skateboards and the receivers are pointing sideways instead of down. Otherwise you are looking at an RFID type system like one used by runners or gocarts I feel like this is one of the less expensive options but still pricy: www.vostokelectronics.com/product/tdcoderis/ Works for gocarts, I imagine it will work for skate boards.

      I assume you are talking about the timing system. The answer is no. The track mate software is free. If you want to look at other software that works with this hardware check out Next level timing. It has a free version as well and it's great software. *Disclaimer: I developed Next Level Timing.

    Hi, You are the one behind the great NextLevelTiming, right? It's the only linux app that supports both USB and serial Robitronic interfaces. I have both of them, but I'm missing cable for rs232 version and Robitronic company was unable to give me pinout. Maybe you could help me? Nice track man love it I should have done indoor outdoor carpet instead of the big indoor dirt track we built in my shop. I live way down south no snow but in my big shop I got heat and actuall HVAC system so in dead 110 degree heat qe race sct 1/24 scale on my big indoor dirt track and I have a carpet track for 1rc oval racing it's actuall rc racing black carpet and the way I made the wood track I was able to get the progressive banking correct so we have a decent size banked oval and I have a miniz road course as well in there all the tracks you can get wide open on booth straights on the oval for over half the straight and almost wide open all the way around since it is a banked carpet track the road course I have 4 straights that you get wide open on and front stretch is like a super straightaway you are wide open for a good 50 feet lol and into the big lolli pop turn I call it and I have a 1/24 scale analog slot car track on a 20 foot by 15 foot table on winches that lower from ceiling and has legs that fold down and lock in to support the track over the three tracks for rc on the floor. And it has 1,000 foot line is the shortest lane around longest is 1800 feet around and its 4 lane and we run purpose built brass pan chassis and use 1/24 scale model car bodies one them the track can be a big daytona type oval for nascar racing or a hige road course and a huge roval as well so much fun in my garage everyone loves it. And I do as well I can spend 12 hours in there playing and setting up cars lol

      Battery life can vary drastically between runs. Sometimes you are pushing the car harder, sometimes you are moseying around. Unless I tested the batteries outside of the cars there would be no way to compare them. You get anywhere from 15 minutes to 60 minutes on these batteries.

    Are these the 30cm or 50cm tiles? If those are the 30cm ones, the larger 50cm tiles would probably be more suitable for faster cars.

      50cm tiles. The 30cm tiles are tiny. I have raced on them. They required really good dexterity for the turns.

    Hi so can you put the sensor in the pipe ?

    • @BlaineEhrhart
      @BlaineEhrhart 3 роки тому

      Apologies, yeah I didn't really clarify that. You would have to cut large gaps into the pipe so the sensor can see out. You probably don't want to obstruct the vision of the sensors a sun but unless the rain is blowing up at least then you could prevent that. Or if you did water proofing with clear lexan and sealant around the wholes that might work.

I have moved on to mini-z which are so much fun to drive at this scale and on these tracks with the right setup. I've contemplated about making some newer videos but UA-cam killed my motivation when they killed ad revenue for anyone under 1k subscribers. I was making enough to cover the cost of the music and a few other things I needed to make quality videos and they just flipped the table :( I'm glad I could help you make some decisions :D

      They're both great truggies. I got Tacon truggy and 8yr old son the AE AE truggy. Run both on 2s and AE has been more durable, but I've bashed mine harder. I tone down his throttle to about #4 though. I installed my 2.0 buggy wheels/tires on the AE & it's in between a MT and race truggy! I'm a fan of AE, RC10T was my 1st rc car, and own all alloy T4... the tacon is good, I really love the size as I'm able to bash in my small backyard & race on small indoor tracks too. Either truggy, you won't be disappointed 👍🏾

    Good info. I went through similar research some time back. It’s a lot to take in when you’re first learning about it... are you still happy with the Trackmate setup? I might be getting this for a local 18th scale track. Thanks

    • @BlaineEhrhart
      @BlaineEhrhart 6 років тому

      Yes I'm still happy with the trackmate setup. We use it for 1/28 scale miniz mostly now but it works great for the larger scale as well. I also use the iLap system at our club which has the same performance but I think it slightly more costly. Orange Lap RC makes cheapest transponders and probably equipment but I have yet to try it. It is the same technology and has backwards compatible transponders with the other two systems. I have some of these transponders for the iLap and they work. I use both systems because I'm building software that is compatible with both. I am releasing soon and if you are interested in beta testing a download will be available soon here: nextleveltiming.com/ ** The download buttons won't work for about another week as I'm still working on a few things but if you contact me on that website I can shoot you a link if its not available when you make your purchase.
